There are reasons why I'm proud of my "home" setup:

    1. It just works.
    2. I know what I build, so I can fix it.
    3. It's all a single login.
    4. Maintenance is fully automated.
    5. It federates in many ways and therefore doesn't limit, but enable me to share things.

    What runs on my setup?

    - #Keycloak for authentication
    - #Mastodon as microblog
    - #Nextcloud for storage
    - Synapse for #Matrix as chat
    - Postfix/dovecot/SOGo for email
    - #CodiMD for notes
    - And #GitLab to rule and maintain it.

We see more and more project and organisations working on privacy focused apps, services, … great!

But sadly this is more and more just marketing. The most famous line "We value your privacy" is telling almost the exact opposite these days.

So let's do a first step: Everyone who really values privacy, get rid of trackers from your websites. All of them. GA as well as Matomo.

If you want to know how to optimize your websites, analyse your logs or do surveys.

Looking for opinions on Flatpak isolation for #Riot #flatpak.

Right now we only allow write access to the Downloads directory, which causes problem with drag and drop and sending files in general. We currently considering to give access to the entire home directory, but the big question is: Allow writing or read-only access?

    Discussion can be found here:

There was recently a lot of news about DNS over HTTPS. Some people say it's bad for privacy because it centralizes the DNS requests on Google, Cloudflare and Quad9.

Time to change that and run your own DNS over HTTPS server. I spend some time today in writing, documenting and arranging a small container setup to allow you to do this:

    https://octo.sh/container-library/dns-over-https/blob/master/README.md

@sproid Let's bring a hands on part in here:

    https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.westnordost.streetcomplete/

With #StreetComplete everyone can contribute to OpenStreetmap and help to improve the data.

If you want to do bigger changes, you can put a note there, and as soon as you are at a desktop, go to https://www.openstreetmap.org/ sign in, and use the edit button.

The tutorial makes it really simple to get started, so please try before calling it too complicated :3

    Opps what's up here?

Duckduckgo now started to send a request to "improve.duckduckgo.com" on each search request including: The search term, the country and some other information.

The good news is that they have a document about it:
    https://duck.co/help/privacy/atb

Make up your own mind about it. "Privacy by design" is their statement. Do you think that's privacy by design? uBlock Origin decided to cancel those requests on my side.
