Thanks, this has got me thinking about what I want from a social network, as the indieweb continues to expand, fork, and split. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_software_and_protocols_for_distributed_social_networking looks like a useful list, but I need to get back to defining what *I* want from it all, I think.
Either way, I'll try and check my GNU Social account more... ;)

Knowing how to build something is difficult, and takes years of trial and error. But it's good, long term experience that any sustainable future will need to understand. Creativity is hard. Maintenance and defence is hard. All the passion and laws in the land won't change how hard it is to actively build a future.
