Notices by Sean Tilley (dsh@deadsuperhero.com), page 21

I eagerly await my signed copy!
-
I really want to write a book on the history of computing. Not just a short snippet, but the entire evolutionary arc, from the Difference Engine up to cutting-edge development happening now.
-
You are, ahem, very well connected, Mr. Tilley!
-
No, it looks like they got carried across on my end...
-
@mike @dirb GNU social will auto mention people in classic interface, which are already in the conversation, but the qvitter UI doesnt preserve this, so the behaviour isnt even consistent within GnU social (or by extension postActiv)
-
Hmm looks like Sean's hub didn't relay my socialhome comments. Afaict they're signed properly, seems to work withing Diaspora nodes.
-
Nice image BTW! Though I've always felt the way of connecting nodes like that is really not how a decentralised social network actually looks. In reality, you have just lines everywhere from all around, not going through some central nodes. That picture style represents more like Internet infrastructure.
-
You guys realise there is a "follow" etc button/action which handily injects posts in your stream? ?
-
Me too, please!
-
Please ping me when you release a post!
-
What would miss me the most is the dash and the hud.
-
@dirb - you didn't get a notification because you were not specifically mentioned. Auto-mention is implemented on some OStatus sites but is not specified in the protocol, and different networks have completely different implementations. On most other networks, you will get a notification if a comment appears in a conversation that you participate in - and no mention is necessary. On GNU-Social and I believe Mastodon, a mention is necessary to get a notification; but again, this isn't a protocol rule but merely a project implementation quirk. We federate with at least a dozen different projects over several different protocols and believe me, they all have their quirks. Some projects are so quirky they make me want to pull my hair out. We just do the best we can.

SocialHome?
-
Pleroma is active though?
-
Nice! I want that.

Small correction, for services which speak multiple protocols, you can connect via a specific protocol by using [protocol]identifier - so [activitypub]https://some.where/users/foo or [diaspora]tony@xyz.abc
valid protocol identifiers currently are zot, diaspora, ostatus, activitypub, and rss. 'zotvi' is coming soon if you want to try out Zot6.
