Oh dear, I had forgotten about that.

Laser (sic) is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation and should therefore not have a z. "Ztimulated" is not a word as far as I am aware. #pedant #proofreader

A battle rages on in the near reaches of our settlement. Dozens of ships varying in design hang high in our planet's sky. Thousands of lazers light up a desert night. We stand far beneath them, as our base scrambles to mount any sort of defense.
"We have to get you somewhere safe," one of my commanding officers bellows, practically grabbing my entire body as we run together. We run towards the temple of Kronos, keeper of time.
"Are you sure about this, Commander?" I ask, staring down his eyes.
"We don't have time. You need to hide in the past. I'll come looking for you when the coast is clear."
I nod, and step inside.
I find myself in a chamber shaped like a coffin, and kneel at the altar. I cut my hand, place a gold plate against my blood, and touch the marble surface.
I stand alone in a red desert at the beginning of sunrise. Sweating, I set my bags down and sit. A timer starts on my watch, and I hear the gentle low hum of wind scraping against the dunes. Now it is time to wait.

Nice!
@Alexandre Sto, I endorse your dream. :)

In this alternate reality, Kurt is alive and ever happily married to Courtney. They both host "The Voice: Unified Americas" alongside Chico Science, Omara Portuondo and Axel Rose. Axel is often absent due to, of course, tirelessly touring the world with Slash. John Lennon is president of the continent, and he reports to The One-dread-ful Bob Marley, Awesome Prime Minister - that's the actual official title - of Planet Hemp.

@dsh Im not sure Id be so charitable. They made good money by appearances, and just sold out.

@dsh Wow! That's a whole different planet from the original.

To be fair, bountysource had some serious problems before the merger and I have long suspected underlying solvency issues and a bit of a pyramid based financial structure (future inflows appear to be used to payout past obligations). The situation has not improved since the takeover and as a result they have lost my trust completely. Latching on to the blockchain bubble doesn't give me much confidence in the long term prospects either, as that bubble is showing some signs of stress and hints at the underlying motivations.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana Re-Mixed in a Major Key
by Rudie Obias on YouTube
This is kind of wonderful. I've known about the Major Key / Minor Key tonal shifts changing the mood of a song completely, but this feels like I'm listening to #Nirvana from an alternate reality.
I'd love to build out a playlist of songs like this.

Just saw this on BountySource's website. Honestly, it's kind of depressing to think that a simple service such as this wasn't able to turn enough of a profit to sustain itself. That it had to be bought out by some stupid blockchain company and a bunch of beard-twirling venture capitalists is doubly depressing.
Here's some soulless marketing-speak from CanYa's PR:
CanYa has acquired the majority stake in the online P2P software platform Bountysource and its 46,000 users
CanYa has again raised the bar for ICOs following a major acquisition of Bountysource and its passionate 46,000 open-source developer community. In a world where most ICOs (and traded cryptocurrencies) have no product or user-base, this move is unprecedented.
Fuck you CanYa for shoehorning your crappy blockchain and digital tokens into a perfectly good platform for paying out to FOSS projects. Fuck your callous press releases, your heartless emphasis on technologies that don't solve anything, and your shitty altcoin that no one needs. Thanks for forcing it on a bunch of people who weren't really all that affected by any of the problems you aim to solve.
At this point, it may make more sense for the Hubzilla project to eventually use their own commerce system for community donations, to replicate the very functionality that we were using BountySource for.

Hey @Tobias , I'm trying to syndicate a feed from the Friendica blog, but I've been having some strange problems. When I try to visit the URL of the blog's feed, it provides the XML file as a download rather than a page that browsers can read. Unfortunately this means that it does not work with the Sources feature in Hubzilla.
I tried to work around it by using FeedBurner, but I get this error message on FeedBurner's end:
The URL does not appear to reference a valid XML file. We encountered the following problem: Error on line 2: The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed.
It seems like something might be misconfigured with your blog feed? Maybe the content type is not being served correctly?

(that reply doesn't seem to show up on macgirvin.com, so I don't know if you can see it. Does mentioning you change that? @mike )

Mike, I found the permalink, but it doesn't let me fetch the post from Mastodon, by pasting it in the search box.
I can only assume that it's because there's some header or meta-tag that Mastodon wants that isn't set by Hubzilla, when using the permalink.
-
The permalink is within the gear menu at the bottom of the article. "Link to Source".
-
I think it works for all of them, but I think you need to be subscribed to it first. Happy to experiment with this more as time goes on.
-
Okay, now the post shows up on the Diaspora pod I'm on! But still nothing on Mastodon. Does re-delivery only work with the diaspora protocol, and not ActivityPub or OStatus?

@dsh why are Hubzilla just aggresively stripping tags instead of showing it as text?
< link href=" [endpoint url] " rel="alternate" type="application/activity+json" >
Is this readable?
