@yrabbit It's not too bad. I just had to decide on the layout. I have all the drill bit I need in like every size, so that's not an issue. And drilling through aluminum is easy. I could have been more precise with a drill press though!

I also soldered the jumpers that will go between the PCB and the switches and pot on the panel. Each of the 3 switches has 6 wires, and the pot has 3. This was time consuming persnickety work, holding the wires at the right depth as I soldered. I ended up doing 2 wires at a time and using both of my Panavises.

Drilled and populated the front panel. No drill press so I did it by hand. One hole is off by a 1/16th or so, but it's close enough for DIY! I have a panel I designed from Front Panel Express, which I might order in the future, but it's pricey, so we'll see.

Finally got around to laying out the front panel for the tube mic preamp. I'll drill it after lunch. It's times like these when I wish I had a drill press.

The Enterprise D had more than one Dr. So why does DS9, which is many times bigger than a Galaxy class starship, only have one?

So does anyone out there know what the difference between the Schroff and Fischer 19" rack standard is? I thought it was a goddamn standard!?

I just designed a panel and looked at both options for mounting holes and such, and they look identical.

@tomasino Well, the only way anyone in the crypt survives is if they defeat the dead topside. So the idea that the crypt was safer was a logic fail. It just means you'll die later. But if I'm going down there, or anywhere, I'm going armed.

@tomasino It looked like they had tons of it. But fuck the dead rising in the crypt, how about bring down some crossbows (which anyone can fine) with dragon glass arrows IN CASE THEY BROKE THE DOOR DOWN.

So other than Tyrian and Sansa, didn't anyone think to bring some dragon glass weapons into the crypt? I mean killing the whites as they emerged from the tombs would have been easy.

Worked on a panel for my tube preamp last night. If the preamp turns out really killer I'll order one of these down the road. In the beginning I'll just use the stock, hand-drilled black panel that comes with the rack, with P-Touch labels.

@sikkdays I always enjoyed making the show. Just getting together with my co-host and talking was therapeutic.

We had a bit of a falling out and he felt he had to bail. That's why it stopped.

Been working with front panel designer to make some panels similar to the metalwork I bought for my DIs. They were kind enough to email me back with a workaround for the bug in their program that I found.

Turns out its cheaper to buy the metalwork from where I got it instead of ordering from Front Panel Express. Like by a LOT.

Here's what I came up with.

So I discovered this online place for fasteners called Bolt Depot. No one locally had the smaller sizes I needed for some of my builds recently, and I didn't wanna use Amazon. Anyway, the quality and service is excellent. They're close to me which is also nice. I placed an order on Saturday and the stuff came in today's mail. Sorry non USA people, these guys are in MA. anyway, check them out sometime. They'll have everything you need.
