If your job uses Slack, please remember that the administrators that have been configured can view any channel and download all files and all information published, including channels that are "private" or between 2 individuals.
Your discussions are not secure and can be snooped upon, even private conversations.
In other words: there is no privacy on Slack. Period.
This is the end of this public service announcement.
I really like this digital services obituary site by IndieWeb: "Site deaths are when sites go offline, taking content and permalinks with them, and breaking the web accordingly. Site deaths are one of the big reasons why you should own your own identity and content on the web" https://indieweb.org/site-deaths
Some things that I have noticed since I quit #Facebook:
- My family still loves me and still talks to me - Old friends from high-school still talk to me - Old friends from college still talk to me - I still meet new people - I still make new friends - I still shop at local businesses - I'm still aware of events in my community
Huh, it's almost like I never needed Facebook in the first place.
And mutual credit is a step further ;) In fact a few people involved in CommonsPub and related projects are also trying to help the FairCoin community slowly transition to better tech solutions...
@sifr "So let’s call Zuckerberg’s resolutions precisely what they are: features of an unprecedented and rogue capitalism."
Except "rogue" is a very misleading term. Contemporary surveillance capitalism is pretty much a logical development of capitalism in an age of digital storage, reproduction, and linkage of information.
Stick with as much free/libre/open software ad you can. Use FDroid instead of the Play Store. It clears away the addiction-ware and delivers tons of boring, useful, community-made stuff.
On March 2nd, a demonstration for the preservation of several self–organized projects will take place in various districts of #Berlin. Liebig34, Potse/Drugstore, G17a, Meuterei and Syndikat are currently threatened by evictions. These projects have been a significant part of Berlin culture, most of them for decades. We take a stand against their impending evictions!
Congrats to the whole Friendica team for a huge release! Why? It brings Friendica over to the #ActivityPub world, bringing compatibility with tens of additional projects not reachable via #OStatus, #Diaspora or #DFRN protocols. 🎉
I was going to announce it a bit later and more properly, but Mastodon received a $70k grant from Samsung NEXT through OpenCollective. I intend to make it available to those who contribute to the project, and have already notified some of the most regular contributors. The way OpenCollective works is that anyone can submit an expense and all transactions are listed transparently. It also holds the money.
As for myself, I intend to continue using Patreon for my own wage/costs.
#fundthecode aura lieu le 19 mars au Liberté Living Lab (Paris) avec withoutmodel.com.

Real talk.. The "Repressed Citizen" scene from Monty Python and The Holy Grail is probably where I first learned about #anarchy and what got me interested in anarcho-syndicalism.
If I want to install a Matrix server for private use, and do not need it to talk to other Matrix servers, does anyone know if changing the hostname later is okay?
