on second thought, maybe they're not stimulant for you. e.g., green tea and guaranĂĄ soda don't seem to work as stimulants for me, but black tea and coffee do
-
AFAIK chocolate and sugar typically found in it are stimulant, will help keep one awake. I guess that's one way to interpret helping with insomnia :-D
maybe try hot without the chocolate? not as delicious, but possibly more effective against insomnia, if that's the goal. or enjoy the alertness ;-)

heh, that reminded me of the hilarious "holy goat" speech by a priest played by Rowan Atkinson (another artist I admire for art and for political stances, another victim of the insanity of cancellation) from... was it 4 weddings and a funeral?
anyway, all of these mythologies involving adoration or sacrifices of real animals are dated. our modern sociotech-religions adore imaginary gnus, blue penguins, and text editors ;-)

main downside, at least in latin america, is that US freaks and supports coups, plots, assassinations, false accusations, commercial blockades, even dictatorships, whatever it takes to overthrow left-wing governments that could shed doubt on whether its own soul-crushing policies and virtue-signalling propaganda are best, and even democratic
-
poor Laundry didn't deserve that end.
your post came across a bit like:
the king is dead!
long live the king!
-
huh, looks like I wasn't even following this address. I am now
-
I see. well, I guess I've watched too much Cosmos, and loved it, when I was a kid. I'd much rather see the US reduce its war industry budget than give up space research
-
this is timely. Saint IGNUcius' first appearance was in a Halloween party, Richard told me a while ago, and yesterday was all saints' day, thus Saint IGNUcius' day too ;-)

have faith, brother. Emacs has a dual nature. its earthly body is indeed a church, whereas its heavenly soul is a development environment. the unfaithful describe its appearances as those of a mere editor, because they can't grasp or express its wholyness before they repent.
the church may be unable to save your soul or bless your halo, even if you can find one, but the development environment will do its best to auto-save your files, whether on your own halo-to-be or in heavenly clouds.
you may now compile this file I've saved for you
it represents the sacred body of a copylefted function
may all your computing be blessed with freedom, brother

that sounds accurate enough. I guess their budget was only enough for 15 characters
-
anyway, I'll keep playing
a compiler is a program that prints error messages instead of figuring out and translating to assembly what the programmer meant to write ;-)
-
sorry, I didn't realize you were the one asking the question. doh
-
oh, rats, I fell for it the first time!
-
a very big table of characters that standardizes code points for many other scripts used by various human languages, other sets of useful (and not so useful ;-) glyphs, and some more control characters, that is backward-compatible with ASCII in that ASCII characters get the same code-point number in Unicode

I think there's a flawed assumption there: that nasa's resources are being used to send rich fucks to space. AFAIK the rich fucks are using their own money (well, value they extracted from their workers, but I digress), with their own private space programs. if nasa stops funding its own, it will eventually have to rely on the rich fucks' plutoligopoly of spacecraft for any space travel needs (e.g., maintaining the ISS staffed, and the staff in there safe, launching and replacing communications and GPS satellites, ...)
it's not my tax money (my taxes go to Bolsonaro, yuck) but I still wouldn't like to see it wasted further enriching those fucks.
-
oh, wait, I thought the D was for Development. if it's Desktop, then... still Emacs ;-D
-
hard to beat the infinitely customizable operating system ;-)

you speak as if she really had much of a choice. let's see, if people who care about the environment and our future were not to attend, so as to keep our own personal footprints low, that would leave the floor where decisions are going to be made about 100% of our emissions entirely for those who, by the initial assumption, do not care about the environment. do you really think that would be in the environment's best interest?
yeah, the whole thing is a set up. if it was meant to be welcoming to environmentalists, they'd have been invited to speak remotely in the main tracks.
you should keep in mind that individual efforts of reducing footprints often make negligible differences, the bulk of the human environmental footprint is elsewhere, it's indirect, and this is the sort of meeting where that stands of chance of being affected. think of amdahl's law

I prefer my teeth white, thank you very much
I had blue tooth back in school, when a prankster friend gave me bubble gum filled with edible blue ink :-)
