@baptist_joshua_on_youtube uhm, libertarian was firat coined in western europe when it became illegal to publish anarchist (anti-capitalist) literature
I would like to see some new faces in the world cup.
@Cricket With T20WC24 being hosted in the States We will get Team USA for sure so that will be a new qualifier, but what's terning in Africa? emergingcricket.com/news/ugand…
@ミ★ Confederate Space Force ★彡 I am unaware of anywhere in the world where CO2 levels are even remotely approaching dangerous levels for plant life, including trees. We should not blame others' actions for our inactions.
@ミ★ Confederate Space Force ★彡 I don't see anything in my notifications. If you give me the complete URL I can tell if it existd at all on this instances or others could share it.
I believe they are showing up in your profile @Robbie. Accessing your profile from outside of diapsora.ragesoss.com may have less content depending who, if anyone, on that pod follows you or anyone else on your instance. You are a new user on a pod I have never heard of, so this stuff is normal. Often newbs give up on the 'verse too quickly becasue they feel like no one is here, but it takes a while to get established. I find that is one of the advantages over closed-source centralized freedom-denying surveillance-capitalist platforms like Twitter & Facebook. The most important part to remember is #itWorksLikeEmail.I first joined the 'verse back in like 2011, but it never became my primary social media until like 2021. I didn't really understand that part, and as such had many accounts on different pump.io platforms that don't exist anymore.
Not long after I created this Friendica account I was surprised to learn my original profile on identi.ca (the original open-soucre microblogging website that led to what is now called the fediverse) not only still existed but the password recovery worked.
♲ @fu@libranet.de:
How does the #Fediverse work? #ItWorksLikeEmail
Over the past few days as a result of the recent #twittermigation and all the new #introduction posts I've made numerous comments similar to this, so I figured I'd just make one Pinned Blog post and link to it instead
I first started using the 'verse >10 years ago, back when it was just called "de-centralized microblogging" (which was actually pretty centralized from my recollection of identi.ca being the only instance that really was up more often than it was down) I never really used it as my primary Social Media for big part because I didn't really "get" it, until I gave up Facebook for Lent this year and decided I was finally going to dive all in to GNU Social whether I liked it or not.
Here is what was most helpful for me in understanding how this all works. #ItWorksLikeEmail
your email provider can have its own rules, (like you can't send spam), and you can chose to host your own server(where you make the rules, but most people chose not to), and you can talk to anyone else in the world who has an email address (regardless of whether or not you are both on yahoo.com), and while most people just use it for one thing, it can be used for others (like posting to mail lists, or forums that have integrated mail support)
Socialisms' weakenesses are welfare for the lazy, and discouragement from ingenuity/hard work.
but once I spent a decent amount of time in the corporate world I realized what I had been taught in government school was, unsurprisingly, trying to make governmnet look better than it is. In my experience it has been government capitalism that gives welfare to the lazy, such as bail-outs & limited liability protection, and discouragment from ingenuity & hard work, such as patents and other protection of intellecutal "property" discouraging improvements on existing structures, that wouldn't exist in a freed market.
Christians allowing welfare for the poor to have been taken over by governments, I feel, is the worst thing the church has done in the past several centuries. Whilst governments exist I understand the desire for "harm reduction" but even that I feel is a tool of the satanic capitalist system to keep at bay a workers revolution by making the working class "feel better."
The #WelfareCliff in my country makes working class folks trying to individually better themself a much more risky situation that it otherwise would in a freed market. I'm unaware of if similar discouragments exist in other Western countries.
@baptist_joshua_on_youtube You may think you carefully, accurately responded to @ミ★ Confederate Space Force ★彡 but I see the same posts on my instance as I do if I access sysad.org directly. Robin is completley correct, you only are reiderating your previous assertions and not actually addressing the concerns & objections. Perhaps you believe our IQ is too low to bother responding to such concerns.
So if I created a Friendica account, it would not import all my created content that I created from Diaspora, correct?
that matches my understanding. I believe you can export Diaspora CONTACTS as a CSV and importat the same CSV to serve as "Friend Reqeuests" on Friendica. Then again I've never tried personally.
And I just want to talk weightlifting or kayaking or Star Trek or temporal mechanics ideas or how to make things, or just whatever.
yeah that's just about finding the right folks to talk with. One of the reasons I like Friendica is, I believe, it has the widest potentiol friend group as it supports more protocols than any other I know of. Just off hand I can quickly think of following groups and users on startrek.website might be up your alley, but Lemmy only supports ActivityPub so you couldn't do that from Diapsora.
@baptist_joshua_on_youtube For private communications I use end-to-end PGP encrypted email. Either from my own domain or a Riseup.net provided email if I wish to remain more anonymous (though I'm giving I2P mail a fair shot).
ProtonMail is certainly better than larger competitors, like Google & Microsoft, they still have their own quirks such that I wouldn't recommended it to a friend who was trying to remain anonymous.
I call myself a Libertarian Socialist, that means I believe in a much smaller government than you do. Since you label President Biden a socialist, I expect you would not label me one.
A modem handshake is the sound of the telematic friendship Here you have the sound of a remote connection at some of the most common speeds including 300, 1200, 2400, 9600, 14400, 33600 and 56K.
