TL;DR: Anyone looking for an email producer for a company that can actually plan and deploy stuff on time?

I’m also somewhat miffed as to why posts for social media take priority over getting a large email campaign prepared for launch. That might be myopia as the email person, but if we’re really focused on selling tickets to something via an email campaign, then that’s revenue we leave on the table when we waste time.

When I try to address the issue—and I’ve not been great at addressing it in appropriate ways, to be honest—it’s dismissed or ignored. Either “we can’t change it,” or “everyone is busy,” or “we’re trying our best.”

That’s not an excuse. These campaigns aren’t last minute edicts from above, they’re projects we all know have to be done and have deadlines. Would the marketing and editorial staff treat print the same way? Email marketing may be digital, but it’s closer to print.

Honestly, the fact that we’re short staffed and under a high workload is why we need to do better with planning and making sure we have everything on time. The projects that we sent out today were known to be coming for weeks. When the deadline was finalized, we should have started preparing the things we need. We should have a timeline. Instead, we have scrambling and panic.

I’m very close to starting to look for another job. The situation at work is absolutely out of hand. I’m not getting the resources I need to do my job properly. Dependencies to do my job, such as copy, deployment lists, even landing pages, are either only provided with scarcely enough time to put an email campaign together within business hours—or far too late. This is for projects that have been on our schedule for weeks.

It's not a failure of empathy when I go "Damn it, my commute is fucked," after someone gets hit by a train, it's a natural reaction of living in an environment where people get hit by trains.
