but tech elsewhere, eg Apple, Google, have similar. many tech, after years of dev, got killed, for 1 reason or another.

google, by it's browser force, invented spdy, and is using it when people are using chrome with google services such as gmail. So, by this clout, they forced it. Then, spdy became http2 as a standard.

the thing about svg 2 is that, due to evolving nature of web, it is getting replaces by css, canvas, js, web animation api, etc.

here, seems “dead”, is due to forces and turns before it's born, not slowness of adoption. But of course, maybe svg 2 will become alive again. who knows.
