@Atom_Rocket yeah, group theory and set theory are entirely different.

set theory is more used as foundation of math. It wasn't really directly practical. It is used more as logic foundation so all other math can make sense in a solid way. All modern math since 1900 are based on set theory in a technical sense, but one don't really need to learn it.

calculus/analysis, group theory, abstract algebra, etc, statistics, etc, are the 'actual' math.

For coders, if you don't know math, the most important and basic of math, is group theory. (other than basic calculus) learn it to start to get into serious math.

group theory, is something you can learn the basics in 1 hour. And you can spend 5 years getting phd specialization. It is also, one of the most simple and beautiful theory, and the most important, practical, widely used.
