I was happy that I could install it with my 512MB usb key and in the future I don't want to buy some just because of bloat. -

http://badpenguins.com/gentoo-build-test/
> Over the last few months of 2005 a meme was floated out to the Gentoo community, that installing Gentoo from a pre-packaged stage3 tarball is "better" than the previously supported method of bootstrapping from a stage1 tarball. In spite of the fact that many Gentoo users still prefer (1) the stage1 installation method, support for this installation method has been abandoned (2). The primary reasons for dropping support of the stage1 bootstrapping installation method appear to be that users are too stupid to comprehend it, there is no advantage to using it, it is too buggy, and that it is a waste of time (3).
What is most interesting to me about this discussion is the fact than no one has bothered to offer any facts to back up these assertions. I have never installed gentoo any other way than bootstrapping from a stage1 tarball, so I was very interested in investigating the issues further. I decided to reach my own conclusions by putting it to a test, and quite frankly, I am astonished at just how broken the stage3 install process is. How Gentoo developers can justify stage3 installs as "better" in any way is beyond me. Perhaps they don't eat their own dog food? -

>Do they still recommend avoiding stages 1 and 2?
Yes ;;
I'd like to know how to do it tho. But first I need a better knowledge on the overall system. -

Free Unix!
Starting this Thanksgiving I am going to write a complete Unix-compatible software system called GNU (for Gnu's Not Unix), and give it away free(1) to everyone who can use it. Contributions of time, money, programs and equipment are greatly needed.
To begin with, GNU will be a kernel plus all the utilities needed to write and run C programs: editor, shell, C compiler, linker, assembler, and a few other things. After this we will add a text formatter, a YACC, an Empire game, a spreadsheet, and hundreds of other things. We hope to supply, eventually, everything useful that normally comes with a Unix system, and anything else useful, including on-line and hardcopy documentation.
GNU will be able to run Unix programs, but will not be identical to Unix. We will make all improvements that are convenient, based on our experience with other operating systems. In particular, we plan to have longer filenames, file version numbers, a crashproof file system, filename completion perhaps, terminal-independent display support, and eventually a Lisp-based window system through which several Lisp programs and ordinary Unix programs can share a screen. Both C and Lisp will be available as system programming languages. We will have network software based on MIT's chaosnet protocol, far superior to UUCP. We may also have something compatible with UUCP. -

Well I just looked at the heating system and I hacked for it to work. But I still can't make it work because the pressure release valve is utterly destroyed. The good part is that it only cost 10 bucks. And if we're a bit lucky tomorrow thing will work as before. -

Mate just have some fun, I pointed out what I experienced irl, I just read your initial post not the rest.
Also there is no "4chan" formatting, seek an email client on a desktop/laptop computer and go see how plaintext emails refers to an email you respond too. -
