@CobaltVelvet @val I mean, the broader point here is the web pages often should and need to control selections and not leave it to whatever randomly happens in the browsers.

With that comes a solid risk of them fucking it up, but that's life.

@val @CobaltVelvet Yeah, ok, but look here. I cannot select and copy your profile picture (but I can select inline pictures in the posts). Symbols for favorites and boosts aren't selectable either. But the dots between them are. I technically understand why is all that, but it's arbitrary as hell.

Or like, why can I select the "Home" column title, but not the house icon together. And so on.

Now, I think this is actually all possible with existing browsers. They just need to do it.

Even worse: they should be able to limit selection only to relevant text that is not an app UI that needs not to be selected.

Controversial opinion: web apps should be able to disable ctrl+a browser shortcut if not needed.
