@jcgruenhage @lain Now, I haven't tried xmpp since, hm, 2008, when I stopped my own server? no idea there. But the experience you get out of the box with modern day messengers isn't comparable with anything back then.

Some years ago people in Britain made a replica of a steam loco and boasted how it worked in snowy conditions while few modern emu's had break-downs. So there you have that too :D
