Allison Parrish (aparrish@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 01-May-2019 18:51:55 EDT Allison Parrish want to feel old? we're now further from the day in 1995 when the protagonist of "The State I Am In" was troubled by a dream (which stayed with them all day) than they were from the day when they were happy and surprised (in 1975)

Darius Kazemi (darius@friend.camp)'s status on Friday, 22-Mar-2019 13:56:29 EDT Darius Kazemi I wrote a thing about why I believe the best and most useful decentralized applications are going to be the ones that utilize multiple protocols. I imagine a world where ActivityPub, Dat, and Secure ScuttleButt are all seen as tools in a toolbox rather than as ecosystems, and what kind of amazing software we could build with them outside of the central/corporate paradigm.

Allison Parrish (aparrish@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 22-Mar-2019 12:23:41 EDT Allison Parrish @brainwane I don't know if "tasteless" is the word I'd use necessarily. I'm still working through how I feel about it! at work in almost every other context I don't feel excluded for not being a parent (though many of my peers are parents), so it was jarring in this instance to see such a bald assertion of a parents-only "in-group"

When science publications talk about failure, it means the same as an attempt
Dickens might doubt instead of failing

ZS (logicaldash@mastodon.babycastles.com)'s status on Thursday, 21-Mar-2019 19:45:10 EDT ZS This is configurable with sliders, so it's easy to, say, rewrite the first chapter of Genesis to make it sound like the pastor has a cold
You can put in random letters and get back plausible english words, get the word phonetically between two others: jabberwock -> bannershank -> bandersnatch #wordHack
