I'd really like to make a game at some point that's set in a vaaaast procedural city. Not an open world game, but just using a sprawling urban mass as the backdrop.

I like the idea having that kinda setting to make the player feel small - no access to cars or any empowerment like that, you're forced to obey the whims of public transit.

Shrek (XBox) was released on this day in 2001!

Shrek was the first game to use a deferred rendering pipeline.

Deferred is now industry standard, but widespread use didn't roll out until a period between 2007-2011.

Shrek (2001) was a game a generation and a decade ahead of it's time.

Given the effect that deferred has had on industry visuals, Shrek may well be considered the most technologically groundbreaking game since .......... Wolfenstein 3D https://mastodon.social/media/fGO26HkB6OvvBhdqVok

    but must say -

just as I find "you're probably trans if..." takes extremely distasteful

anything that reinforces thoughts around the opposite, the "you're probably not trans if..." is on the other hand actively harmful.

Don't do the former if you're trans, and pls try to strip away thoughts & anxieties around gatekeeper faux rules if you're questioning

    THANK YOU SISTERS

I would love to see old-guard FOSS projects fall and be replaced by new blood.

There are too many inward looking establishments among open source that have an irrevocable, institutional disregard for the user.

I use software such as Blender and GIMP daily, and it's never as pleasant an experience as it should be.

Open Source doesn't need flagships that're a repellent to the average "customer" and devour productivity through their own hubris.
