Especially when I find so much comfort in being anonymous. I don't want my persona to become something more important than the work I do.

I also don't wish to be considered irreplaceable in every place I end up working at. Building a legacy is my main goal everywhere I go. If they feel they aren't capable of continuing my work with someone else it's surely a sign I failed on that.

Yesterday my partner was messing around with Ethernet cables which didn't follow standard documentation or norms. You know what helped him? A blog post from 2009.

I want you to recommend projects that welcome people that never contributed to FOSS before. I am planning to do a workshop this year to encourage people to make their first contributions. What I need:

- A page explaining how they could contribute.
- General recommendations and documentation.
- Where they can contact people involved in such projects in case they have questions.

If you decide to leave a community or a project because they are adopting a Code of Conduct that asks you to be respectful and kind, no matter what you did or how good were your contributions, you certainly won't be missed.

Seeing a CoC as a threat gives me the impression your skills aren't as necessary as of those you kept away from the community because of your toxicity and inability to be decent human being. That project could be much better without you.

It's this kind of situation that makes me think FSF doesn't deserve my money. I should always support projects and communities separately or support respectful entities like Software Freedom Conservancy.

I bought a t-shirt yesterday saying "Dance like no one is watching, encrypt like everyone is".

I actively avoided the internet for a while due to the amount of comments talking about how Stephen Hawking is now free "wherever he is" because he doesn't have to live in a wheelchair anymore.

I saw a person also in a wheelchair answering one of those saying their idea of heaven is one with ramps, not one where they "could finally walk", and got really sad as people said to them they are "crazy", after all, who the hell would choose to stay disabled?

Mastodon is the only social network I don't feel creeped out when strangers talk to me. Actually, I love when this happens.

Seriously, though: we can talk with each other almost instantly, do collaborative work without a hustle, find people with different background everywhere. The existence of the internet still blows my mind, and that's one of the reasons I was so sad about what it is becoming.

I saw a lot of toots recently talking about the alt text feature on Mastodon with some good information about how you add a description, but I also noticed there's a great amount of people with some doubts about the best way to describe media.

I frequently have to remind myself that I am not dealing with critical systems anymore. Aviation has such high standards for documentation — motivated by the fact that people can die if the industry doesn't make a good job on this — while most non-critical systems... Erm... Nevermind. It's kind of disappointing.
