@paulfree14 I've been using qutebrowser/palemoon for a while now and I really like it. But I've been thinking of switching back to firefox. This article kinda changed my mind: https://blog.jeaye.com/2017/12/16/firefox/

Don’t abandon Mozilla Firefox just yet
      from Jeaye’s Blog
Just today, a diatribe against Mozilla made it to the front page of Hacker News, gathering a great deal of discussion. Unfortunately, a significant portion of that discussion was around choosing alternatives to Firefox, forking it, or otherwise abandoning ship. Please, if you do care about your privacy, security, and voice in the matter, refrain from the brash decisions and read on.

Those fighting for change often draw inspiration from #music. A beautiful article about Stimela, a #SouthAfrican song by Hugh Masekela that describes the migrant labor system of the apartheid era.

"This train carries young and old, African men

Who are conscripted to come and work on contract

In the golden mineral mines of Johannesburg

And its surrounding metropolis, sixteen hours or more a day

    For almost no pay."

The best anthem for Workers' Day? 'Stimela' -- a tale about apartheid's migrant labour system
      from The Conversation
The protest song "Stimela" remains as much a song about present and future aspirations, as it is of the past.

Migrants from #linux to #openbsd who miss plugin-extensible editors/IDEs like Sublime Text, Atom, and Visual Studio Code (ick) and don't want to try Emacs should look into the devel/intellij port/package. It provides the community edition of IntelliJ IDEA.

Need ideas for a new years resolution? Feel free to pick one.

    1. Start using a password manager (keepassxc)

    2. Start using 2 factor authentication

    3. Try out a #BSD on your laptop/desktop/server (#OpenBSD)

    4. Contribute to a software project you like (ie. port a game to #OpenBSD, donate $$, help with the docs)

    5. Self host your email

On Monday we wrote about the massive spike in brute force attacks on WordPress sites that we observed. As reported, it was the most intense period of attacks we had ever recorded. We believe that a single botnet is behind the attacks. We were able to isolate the IP addresses from the botnet and then …

The Intercept presents Haven, an app created with the insight of Edward Snowden to protect people from "evil maid" attacks.

The app, open-source and currently Beta, is a collaboration between #Snowden (through the FPF) and #GuardianProject. It can be obtained from the Play Store and #FDroid.

The app, installed on a smartphone, records sound, movement and video while sending notifications another phone.
