Twinkle twinkle, legs of stone
In the desert all alone
Words carved on that plinth right there
"Look on my works and ye despair."
Twinkle twinkle, King of Kings
Naught remains but lifeless things.
I met a traveler from an icy land
Who said—"Two dry and fleshless pits of plum
Lie in the dustbin... near them, on the floor,
Half stained with purple juice a napkin lies,
Whose tears and wrinkles tell
That its user well those plums enjoyed;
And on the napkin, these words appear:
I have eaten the plums
That were in the icebox;
Look on my works, ye Hungry, and despair!
Nothing beside remains."
today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
Going to be at #strangeloop next week. Let me know if you're going, especially if you're from out of town. I love showing people around St. Louis! ⚜️
@srol we had cartridge pens at around 10 years old. The idea was that ballpoint pens encourage bad writing habits/style. So messy.
I quite like the reports #Emacs’s #OrgMode provides with its clock tables, but I wish it could provide a more graphical look at where my time went over a certain period, as #Taskwarrior’s companion #Timewarrior does (see attached screenshot).
Is there anything like this for Org mode? I might investigate implementing it myself if not.
@bigzaphod for the record, I :underheart: the meta discussion. I'm aware it isn't enough to sustain a community but in Mastodon's case there is a lot worth discussing.
@nolan I had a rough idea of an approach for distributing moderation duties to mutual followers. I don’t know if it’d work, but thought you might be interested: https://mastodon.social/@bigzaphod/100642004480085751
Really loving the technical discussion from @cwebber on how to grow the #Fediverse https://octodon.social/@cwebber/100579212913524773
For the record I believe blockchain-ish tech may be useful to integrate, especially for identity and portability of data. Most interesting to me is how to allow this to be heterogeneous in the network.
For example: if you want to have a portable identity but I don't care, that shouldn't prevent us following each other transparently.
my next fan fiction is going to be about two people from rival mastodon instances who both don't federated with each other and how they hacked the networks to be able to chat and fall in love
I must not post my hot take.
Takes are the mind-killer.
Takes are the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my take.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the take has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Wrote I'm expecting some kind of Fediverse split/partition soon. Honestly think it will make the technology more interesting overall provided there is a common basis (currently ActivityPub)

Mastodon is such a powerful experiment because it makes me reconsider how social media should work. I previously thought that subtractive filtering (blocking/muting) were poor excuses for product features, failing to address the root issue.
I'm beginning to believe you can't have a meaningful product without them. Mastodon implements it at many levels. Now going back to other social networks it's crazy how much subtractive filtering improves the experience. ✅❎ :mastodon:
