I had a weird problem: #Emacs would reliably lock up any time I tried to save a file on a drive mounted over sshfs. Turns out Emacs lock files (weird symlinks that don't point to actual files) where somehow not interpreted correctly over sshfs. Emacs ended up in an infinite loop trying to create and verify the symlink. My solution was to simply disable lock files, like this: (setq create-lockfiles nil). I've never had any use for them anyway 🙂

I thought I'd document this somewhere 😉

The flip side of the #GitHub exodus is that it will become harder to find out about new software projects since it won't be mostly centralized in a single place. Time to revive a Freshmeat of sorts?

Has anybody used #Emacs #orgmode export via ox-pandoc that included some images? I could not find out how to do so ...

GIMP 2.10!

Officially put out today, and it's the largest ever release.

GIMP 2.10 is the result of six years of work that originally focused on porting the program to a new image processing engine, GEGL.

The new version ships with far more new features, including new and improved tools, better file formats support, usability improvements, revamped color management support, a plethora of improvements for digital painters.

Hypercard up and running in basilisk II emulating system 8.

Going to re-acquaint myself with my favorite development tool (for the first time in more than 10 years) so that I can get an entry together for the Hypercard Zine.

Putting together a blog post for sometime this week on how to get it up and running (it's easy!) and then another one on how to use Hypercard (it's also easy!)
