Last night, during my climbing workout, I was a victim of a row of β spraying attacks - guys talking down to you about how to top a track, without knowing anything about your skill in or approach to climbing. I go up to a difficult wall and say "may I try?", and that guy could say "good luck" or smth, but what his words amount to is "yup, go, but try to put your foot in x position and don't grab hold y too quickly"
