What I want from blocking is what we have in #Freenet. It sucks that we didn’t yet get it mainstream, but the tech is there and shown to scale: http://draketo.de/english/freenet/deterministic-load-decentralized-spam-filter — I did the math based on constants of social interaction

climate change could have such a large impact, that the limiting factor stops being how much we are willing to pay and becomes whether we actually have sufficient resources — in terms of required materials, in terms of ability and skill, and in terms of people who can do the work

Gitlab has one thing going for it: The server is Free Software, so even though you move to another silo, it is a silo you can take with you.

earlier this year, for a few reasons, I was pretty depressed (I basically quit working in tech and decided to recenter on things I was actually interested in, which was largely inspired by a large chunk of my life savings got burned by a techbro when they were supposed to be saving the business, it's a long story, I've talked about it before)...

and, honestly, being able to participate in a project like Pleroma at that time was very helpful in terms of getting my mind back into a happier place.

sometimes, you need something *new* and *different* in order to get excited about things again...

so, I am glad that @lain started this thing, it has been very fun to hack on, I've learned a new programming language, made contributions to a W3C standard and I've also made a lot of friends in the process. not bad, if I do say so myself...

anyway, that's all I have to say...
