See this screen recording about how you can filter the local and federated timeline on #language.

When the boxes are checked the timelines are not filtered. Check the #languages you want to see in the timelines (after this you won't see the unchecked languages in the timelines).

Language detection is not perfect. If you write your toots always in the same language and you want to make sure they are always tagged with that language, you can set your default 'posting language'

ℹ️ As you probably have read, Todon.nl is now invite only and every user is able to invite. You can find our announcement here if you didn't read it yet:

In case you wondering how to make #invite links, here is a quick screencast :todon: made for you.

Copy the link you see on the end and give it to the person you want to invite. That person needs to open this link to be able to register. Here you see that the link is only 1 time valid during 1 week. You can change that.

:mastodon: tip!

You can remove #languages you don't understand from the local and federated timeline. You do this in your settings (https://todon.nl/settings/preferences).

In the screenshot you see that all languages are removed (checked) and only English, Dutch and German are now visible on the public timelines (unchecked).

Note 1: your home timeline isn't filtered on language.

Note 2: currently only toots from #Mastodon have language detection, but don't worry ~95% of the toots are from Mastodon.
