There should be a whole new layer of Snopes-like debunking, that focuses on newer stuff, like derailing, whatabouting, the unexplained level of examination and point-by-point responsiveness demanded when people don't want to accept something as true, etc. The extent to which claims are made without building up a clear underlying context.

There's a whole new taxonomy of trolling/disinfo, it's not just about logical falacies or fact checking one-off claims anymore.

Ilhan Omar was "fact checked" for correctly noting the McDonald's median worker pay is $7,000, which she contrasted against the $21.8 million made by the McDonalds CEO.

Politifact decided that if you only look at full time workers in the US, they make $12,200.

So it's $12,200 vs $21.8 million instead of $7,000 vs $21.8 million.

Nothing she said was incorrect, nothing about the "correction" changed the overall thrust of her point. But Politifact still rated it mostly false.

Damn. My schmancy new Moto Z phone has an updated version of Android that lets the wireless carrier disable my wifi hotspot unless I upgrade to a better plan.

Fuck that. I guess I'm sticking with my old android phone and my unlimited, unblockable data. I was really looking forward to the Moto Z mods and stuff too. But... nope.

Almost done. One of the major non-toxic potentials of the internet is making it easier for people to organize & coordinate.

Getting a critical mass of people to "buy in" and cooperate is incredibly valuable. A lot of the value of successful apps isn't that they are better than alternatives, but that they successfully achieved buy-in.

It's probably easier for creators to form groups with patreon's help (or someone else's) than to do it from scratch.

I don't know much about this stuff but... given the advances IBM has made, and Google is planning on making this year, and whatever China is doing... aren't we running out of time to switch off of encryption vulnerable to shor's algorithm?

@SomeEgrets I also want lists. I suppose one thing you can do right now is use different accounts to follow different people. But I would prefer lists.
