My only really good story from working in retail is of a dude who wanted to exchange a quart of rancid orange juice at Shaw's supermarket where I was a checkout clerk.
We weren't allowed to do returns and the service desk was closed, so I had to tell him to come back in 3 hours (it was like, 6 AM.)
He screamed "WELL I'M STEALING THIS QUART OF FUCKING TROPICANA THEN, CALL THE GOD DAMNED COPS."
And the exact thing I was talking about the other day with CW just happened to Ro.
"can you CW race stuffs bc I left Twitter so that I dont have to see race stuffs"
Used incorrectly, CW poses a shrinking of marginalized and already erased voices bc we feel we may have to accomodate those that scold us for saying our truths.
Only serious post I'll ever make about this: It's not a big deal. Sorry - if you were directly affected by it living in NYC - you have my sympathy; but more people died in Puerto Rico last year due to government mismanagement than died in NYC due to their foreign aggression and meddling in 2001. The hellish jingoistic paranoid nightmare of a country we warped into almost overnight only solidifies my distaste for enshrining it. Over a million Iraqis died in the illegal war we started over it
Is this a thing you can get? Like, you just shove files into ot, and it takes care of figuring out what they are, checking for duplicates or different versions, saving backup, etc? And like, you can create indexes, and search, and all that? It sounds really cool and I want one. :/
imagine a workforce that works 8 hour days. a process or device improves efficiency by 50%, potentially reducing each worker’s workday to 4 hours without lowering pay. the work week could be halved, or otherwise modified to balance a shorter obligation with improved outputs.
but the boss just fires half the workforce and pockets the difference. the workforce becomes brittle as its constituency shrinks, but it doesn’t have to. the boss chooses disenfranchisement.
