Andrew Hill is one of my favorite jazz pianists.

I wonder about a social media bot that only posts quotes that are cliches, like "to be or not to be that is the question" - Shakespeare.

I find that J.S. Bach and highly structured instrumental music really helps me with learning language. With deep reading I often read with no music going on, at least for the first reading of it.

Are there any good authors to read so that I can improve the flow of my writing? I want something expressive and natural, not so much Emily Bronte, but more like Hemingway maybe. I don't know. I really need to increase the power of my sentences.

I think that J.R.R. Tolkien would incorporate Latin and Greek into his English essays. The Latin and Greek were intrinsic parts of the essay and not just quoted texts.

I also like the idea of mixing in different languages a bit into English writing. Can we gradually increase the literacy of the public in this way?

I love writing that uses 'ergo' and 'viz.'. Why don't we write like this anymore?

My college semester requires me to use the internet a bit, so I'm going to do this tech-free idea over the winter break instead of now.

@dan I think that it was Plato's Gorgias: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorgias_(dialogue)#Physical_and_intellectual_combat_compared_(449d_-_458c)

@dan I think that you do make a good point. I can't remember which dialogue of Plato it is, but Plato makes a similar point with a rhetorician. He poses the question of if the teacher teaches the student to do something wrong, should the teacher be held ethically accountable for the student's actions? This can get interesting philosophically, and perhaps there are no simple answers.
