On Saturday I saw for sale at a bookstore a 1st edition #PGWodehouse #novel from the UK with an importation stamp dated 1953. Back then if one bought a book abroad and returned to Canada with it one had to pay importation tax.

#TIL I can add joy to a government employee's day simply by providing information in her first language. She gave me some phrases but I asked her to spell them out and she didn't. She praised my language attempts more than warranted.

@solderpunk I like printing address labels and personally designed envelopes and weekend crosswords from my printer. Plus nowadays I receive statements and bills i pay by cheque still. I agree i have to replace my printer every five-six years but it's handy. I don't know that it's worth keeping on 24/7 now though. @gemlog
