@pony Oh, Impossible's film is crazy expensive — it comes out to about $2 per shot. They manufacture square format film compatible with original Polaroid cameras, but there are newer instant cameras coming out of Japan that use Fuji's rectangular Instax film. That's still pricey, but at about 75c per shot it's waaaaay cheaper than shooting a Polaroid. It's disturbingly addictive too.
@bouncinglime So classic! I was digging around and found some other short-and-dark animations, but this will always be my favorite.
It reminded me of that animation night too. Damn, I thought I still had that list of links, but I can't find it any more. It was @Kyle Barbour that put it together, so he might have a copy.
@erinbee Hah, that show "Rainbow" is perfect! The outfits look just like the new Doctor's costume.
But oh man, something Katharine Hepburn-esque would be great. Maybe even personality-wise, too — like in Bringing Up Baby where she's mischievous and childlike but clearly smarter than anyone else in the room. That could make a really effective character for the Doctor.
@erinbee It's definitely got shades of the Fourth Doctor's colour palette, but I've got to admit the outfit isn't grabbing me. She looks a bit like a Sesame Street host. Now Romana, *that* is how to do a female version of the Doctor's costume! The boots, the coats, the vest, cravat, and scarf… Those costumes were gorgeous, and had all the same Edwardian trims you often see in the Doctor's costume. It's very Who, but also unmistakably feminine. I'd love to see a design like that for Jodie Whittaker.
I've never seen this thing from the other side, so I can only assume it's a baseballer breaking a bottle of beer so he can jab the jagged glass into the face of someone who has just impugned his mother's honor. Can't think of anything else it could be.
Is there anything left to say after nine hours of Lord of the Rings movies? Then the Hobbit movies killed that franchise pretty conclusively. I still don't know anyone who's seen the third one.
