This basically makes Safari a useless research browser for me. Anyone else?

Twitter was negligent and stored everyone's password totally unencrypted in a log file. So, change your password now. https://blog.twitter.com/official/en_us/topics/company/2018/keeping-your-account-secure.html

What do we do instead? Don't regulate or legalize, but fully decriminalize all drugs, everywhere. Release everyone from all punishment related to any drug-related charge, remove all of those records, and give them and their families a lifetime of reparations for the injustice.

"Constructivism, on the other hand, says that it is not that simple; there are always multiple technological options, technology is flexible and social contingencies determine which paths technology takes. Most scholars of technology now emphasize the latter perspective." (ibid.)

The "future" is weird because when I was a kid we had supersonic flights, human crewed spaceships, and the US launched their own astronauts into space. Now those are all future possibilities again.

Did you know Twitter sells tweets? They do. Since the API only lets you pull data going back 7 days, the way you get data on anything older is to buy it from Twitter. They're selling old tweets to people who do research, marketing, elections. πŸ’°πŸ¦πŸ’° https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/tweets/batch-historical/overview

"Facebook is, to put the matter bluntly, a deeply untransparent, out-of-control company that encroaches on its users’ privacy, resists regulatory oversight and fails to police known bad actors when they abuse its platform." https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/03/21/its-time-to-break-up-facebook-217665

If you're not a billionaire but you're defending capitalism you're a rat defending traps. You hope one day you'll be the one who can get the cheese without getting caught, but that's the myth that powers the system. (https://vimeo.com/244405542) https://t.co/PoGRt0SfoV

Most importantly, stop putting institutional events on Facebook, stop using it at universities, stop making participation in Facebook mandatory through your institutional, organization, and activist roles. You can be online, and social, and connected without supporting Facebook.

Does your own household recycling matter? No. We do it anyway and hope that as a society we'll all do it. Does your boycotting of corporations that support evil politicians matter alone? No. We do it anyway and hope many will join us. Boycotts work as a tactic. Boycott Facebook.

RT @sivavaid@twitter.com Quitting Facebook lets Google and Twitter off the hook. It lets AT&T off the hook. It lets Comcast off the hook. And it does nothing to hurt Facebook. Facebook does not care about one among 2.2 billion users. Act as a citizen, not a Facebook user. Demand regulation.

This would be fine... except that we all live inside an enormous series of prisons called nation-states. Within these nation-states we're forced to participate in a game based on artificial scarcity called capitalism, and losing the game means suffering or death. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

Le Guin's dedication page in "The Dispossessed" speaks so much about that book, her ideals, and about the kinds of justice she imagined possible - it is dedicated to "the" partner, not "my" partner - removing the idea of property and ownership from love.
