"Stop throwing garbage candy off your parade floats" is the hill I will die on. Just more trash going straight into the ocean.

When I was in my 20s, I once fell 80 ft onto a granite slab while rock climbing, shook it off, and finished a 7-pitch route of mostly vertical overhangs.

Today I yawned so hard I hurt my back.

I maybe used the spare LEDs from my ROV mount to put underbody lights on the toddler's stroller.

This has to be the coolest way to illustrate the scale of different early research submarines. I had know idea the Aluminaut was *that much* bigger than Alvin, and that Trieste was almost as big as a blue whale.

And then comparing to the military submarine at the bottom says everything about our priorities.

I built a head-mounted LiDAR array that lets you see the world like a dolphin through vibrations sent through you jaw.

Bonus: you look absolutely ridiculous wearing it.

More people have walked on the Moon than have visited the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

More robots have crawled across the face of Mars than have explored our deepest oceans.

Among the weirdest things we've found in the deep sea: A carpet roll, a yoga mat, a whole toilet, a half toilet, a plastic bag of plastic bags...

...also, there was that whole thing with the hydrogen bomb and, more recently, the other time we found an atom bomb on the sea floor: https://www.news.com.au/technology/science/canadian-men-goes-diving-for-sea-cucumbers-stumbles-across-missing-us-nuclear-weapon/news-story/692f66ada83699bc1562bfbcf8764b66

What I'm trying to say is "pick up your shit."

Over the last month, @WhySharksMatter has been interviewing experts on ocean plastics to get their take on The Ocean Cleanup Project.

    Spoilers: it's not that great.

I asked 15 ocean plastic pollution experts about the Ocean Cleanup project, and they have concerns

Toot if you think MPAs of any size, even if only created because of political opportunity, even if not perfectly placed, even if a total mess for enforcement, are better than no ocean protection at all.
