The science of how trangenics are made is sound. The problem is the society they are placed into, like any science or technology.
There isn't a question that it's possible to make a stable transgenic crop, the question is the use case. It's not as if we are running out of space or running out of food, as ever the problem is soil erosion and waste. So before you can say 'this is a bad objection' you need to at least ask why its worth discussing at all.

Britpol, but actually USpol could do with some of this.

I think this is an important point, but it goes back to the idea that a small programmer base relative to userbase only adds pressure to developers and provokes resentment, it's a problem a lot of FOSS runs into as it gets bigger and it's part of the reason lots of projects mature to a certain point and then slow down. The Developer : User ratio skews too far in one direction as the codebase becomes more complex.

    Concept: federated animal crossing clone

Actual result: effort duplication. We spend all our time talking with animal people anyway, and mastodon loads faster.

@ctrlaltdog honestly before it's implemented we need some feature to be able to judge what the broader community thinks... 🤔

@veer66 Heirloom seeds grown by a local co-op, can't get much more open collaboration and distribution that that!
