@lnxw48a1 @jb55 hubzilla connects to activitypub just fine (there's a plugin for that), but activitypub doesn't work at all with nomadic identity; so you're best turning activitypub off if you want a redundant and mobile social graph.
There is a proposal for nomadic identity over activitypub but it will face the same problem. Nomadic networks lose their mobility if they connect with people using non-nomadic software.

Even though ActivityStreams over-specified dates and times, making TZ independent event support nearly impossible, one of my former co-workers managed to slip in a quiet little workaround to RFC3339 - and it's totally legal. Thanks Chris!

@paulfree14 @trwnh @zatnosk @cwebber @alex I don't have any complaints about a nomadic identity based on DIDs - other than the fact that I know of no working implementations. Once they exist I'd be happy to try and federate with them. I'm slightly concerned that they are linked with LD-Signatures which have a number of practical problems, but there is no perfect technology. Meanwhile zot nomadic identity has been in production since 2012. Whether or not somebody agrees with the conceptual basis isn't relevant and usually signals a devolution of the conversation into ad hominem behaviour. It works as described for the use case it was intended to serve.

@paulfree14 @0x1c3b00da I've mentioned many of the same concerns and found ActivityPub to be completely un-workable for my needs. However, if you wrap it with a different MTA, ActivityStreams is OK. That's the direction I've been going. And we can get back to real ActivityStreams and not Mastodon-flavoured ActivityStreams with all its quirks. The current work is unfinished, but it's an update to zot (called zot6) with AS payloads. I've got some basic doco, but it's all moving pretty fast and isn't final by any stretch. I hope to have a working implementation in another 4-6 weeks.

If one presumes that the validity of a post is dependent on what website it is posted on, they aren't really understanding nomadic identity. Content is linked to nomadic authors, not the websites they may or may not be using at some point in time.

Currently creating a standardised delivery report format for Zot6 which builds on what we originally did in Zot. If your site or channel is blocked or your content is found unsuitable (perhaps because it isn't in the receiver's language) you have a right to know what happened to it,

Update: Channel discovery and making connections, posts, comments, likes are now federating over Zot6/ActivityStreams. Groups/forums are mostly working. Yay. That's a big milestone. I'll probably take a break in the next few days because this shit has a tendency to fry your brain.
