The ultimate conclusion is that, once #Debian #Buster is released, I will switch to that from Raspbian. I want to have an OS that stays the same for two years except for security updates, even if it isn't as optimised as it could be for my machine.

Audio worked as root, but not otherwise, so I suspected a sound server problem. Whether that was the issue or not, removing jack and installing #pulseaudio did the trick.
*sigh* I had useful things to do...

Ah ha! Running ldconfig, I see that libasound.so.2 is truncated. So I reinstall it, and now my programs load.
Still no sound though, "card is not defined".

Updated my Raspberry Pi running #Raspbian yesterday. After reboot, discovered that sound no longer works. In fact, many programs won't load -- they can't find libasound.so.2 , which is in /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/ . Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Dans 4 ans et cinq jours, ça sera donc à propos du débarquement. C’est une façon très intéressante et facile de s’intéresser à l’histoire et à la seconde guerre mondiale

@ink_slinger @OmnaBrain @allan Thanks for the links. For me, it would be nice to blame the last company that operated the Anvil mine (it's known that they were neglecting maintenance and extracting only the high-grade ore to boost their stock price before declaring bankruptcy), but probably all the owners bear responsibility. Hard to be definitive with the information I found.
It used to be a wonderful place, #Faro.
