Help needed! Someone on a #gopher#phlog was talking about a text formatting system they were implementing called "Text Jr.". It was basically a simplified, more regular version of Markdown. I need to re-read this with reference to @solderpunk 's protocol ponderings series, but I can't find it. Does anyone happen to have it bookmarked?
@rnxpyke I've been primarily using elpher (https://github.com/tgvaughan/elpher) as a gopher client. I use tomasino's instance of moku-pona on gopher.black to find phlogs to read.
@solderpunk I remember mainly bacause I was able to write an HTTP 1.0 proxy for myself pretty easily (15 years ago), but was boggled by the increase in complexity that supporting HTTP 1.1 would have required.
@solderpunk Just started reading your protocol ponderings series, really enjoying it. One nitpick! The minimal HTTP queries aren't valid HTTP 1.1, because they don't send a Host: header. You have to either send a Host: header, or change the request to HTTP 1.0 (or 0.9). Great series so far!
I talk about using Org-mode a lot and the UI I normally configure is fairly "ugly" because that's what i think i prefer but i've been trying to see if that's habit or actual preference.
The Denican Republic does not recognize the alleged ✌🏽United States✌🏽, nor does the Presidenite acknowledge Daniel Krump or whatever. We’re like Juan Guaido’s campaign, but competent and non-fictional.
I see the racist, misogynist "we just want to point out how easy it is to spam on Mastodon" concern trolls are back in action. (If they link to a site called "women are stupid", that's them.)
Remember: don't engage them. Report them, pass the report through to the remote instance if need be, block them, and move on.
@Azure Haha! I didn't know that building, but now I love it. I also love all the weird technical side effects of it (focusing sunlight, wind tunnel effect) that people who actually have to live with it hate ^_^
reminder that the guy #BryanLunduke that claimed mozilla is sponsoring "#antifa email" is marketing director at #purism. He claimed that #mozilla would by this, support a domestic terrorist organisation. In fact they where supporting riseup.net a hosting collective focused on security. see here for reffer: https://todon.nl/@paulfree14/100317193468374457
When I was pointing him out on his errors and miss understanding of what antifa actually is, he claimed me doing libel. I gave him my word that he will be driven off from here, when he does not change his agenda.
...now he's back as marketing director of #purism. How to respond to this? cc @purism
@bob@paulfree14 I don't know if it's that simple. Marketing and communications is part of the work, and a reflection of the culture within organisations. It looks like having Lunduke on the team reflects poorly on Purism, and as it's not the only thing lately that reflects poorly on them, they have a problem.
Free software has about the same share of toxicity in its culture and subcultures as any other tech and that's also a real problem that needs to be adressed.
