I think the curiosity to explore, or to re-shape the world around us to better suit our needs is something humans have done since the species emerged.

While I feel some are preoccupied with "progress or bottom lines" I feel the driving force for others might differ.

The Tolstoy article reinforces this multitude of different influences. Too many to know, or understand.

Sitting back & letting the sun shine on you as you close your eyes & experience the breeze is equally valued.

I'm about half way through the article about Tolstoy and while enlightened by what I've read I'm not sure where I'm going.

True for most of us as we put one foot in front of the other and journey through our lives.

I'm reading and annotating a set of essays by Ivan Illich, titled "Deschooling Society" with @dogtrax and a few others. I just finished the 4th essay.

@schestowitz What if there were another parade of veterans, held in another city, on the same day? Participants could be people wounded, injured, who lost buddies, etc. and could demonstrate the terrible costs of war. Given a choice people could pay attention to the second parade and honor military that way, and not need to be forced to watch DT's parade.

As I've been cleaning out my house this past few months I've found many boxes of pencils, markers and crayons, which I've aggregated in a single box, after testing to see if they still work.

My kids and wife don't do anything with these now days, and I don't do much. As we move, I'm wondering if they will go with us or to Goodwill.

I've been building a web library since 1998 focused on poverty, inequality, youth development, etc. which I encourage people in cities to use to build and sustain needed youth and family support in all high poverty areas. The test of events like this will be what happens in the future. How will the people who attended, or watched on line, connect, share ideas and help each other, as some speakers encouraged?

Who will figure ways to map participation in this event and in follow up activities, using on-line documentation, GIS maps, network analysis maps, and other emerging tools?

Will anyone even try?
