A new version of my favourite privacy friendly web browser called Privacy Browser for Android has just been released.
It blocks JavaScript, cookies and all other goodies by default and it supports both global and per-domain settings for everything you can think of, like JavaScripts, trackers and cookies.
It makes browsing the modern web on my 3 year old phone actually decently fast.
Research of almost 1m Android apps reveals how data from smartphones are harvested and shared, with nearly 90 per cent of apps set up to transfer information back to Google. Best get all your apps from @fdroidorg - guaranteed no data sharing with Google! π https://arxiv.org/pdf/1804.03603.pdf
I published the release 1.18.1 that fixes the crash when the app starts. I am really sorry, it affects a lot of #fdroid users. That's due to a mistake with a db migration between two releases. If you don't care to lose your bookmarks and followed instances, just reinstall the app. Otherwise, please wait for the fix. #mastalab
Liberapay is far from perfect and hasn't fully recovered from the Mangopay crisis yet, but it's still great in many ways and I am proud of it. #Liberapay
Is there an app on F-Droid that can read out loud (TTS) ebooks?
I think LineageOS comes with a built-in TTS engine called Pico TTS. I'd be happy to find an app (like an epub or pdf reader) that can at least leverage Pico TTS and read out text. Really missing the Google Play books TTS after the switch to LineageOS + F-Droid.
@sneakypete We can hardly write about updates that didn't happen, now can we?
If you think an app should have updated but didn't, you can check the technical info on the website to find out what's going on, or open an issue in fdroiddata.
@dhanesh95 In fact changelogs are already supported. See the Nextcloud app for example.
We need help from app developers though. They need to add the changelogs to their source repository in fastlane format, so we can pick that up during the build.
And just now the website updated with #TWIF #24. This is a pretty light edition due to the stuck index, but there's news about the irc logging service we use, and 25 updates and 4 new apps.
