I read that as "...become the PHB". It's funnier that way. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointy-haired_Boss -

While #Steemit is an #OpenSource application, it does not appear to be federated, so although I could run my own server it won't connect with Steemit's main servers. Assigning payment to posts is only going result in posts for the sake of making money. And three of the four top posts right now seem to be exactly that, click-bait to get upvotes. I'd rather post when I have something to contribute, regardless of how I think it will be received. And finally, the site is #Javascrippled, but what isn't these days? -

Reading the #Steemit FAQ and the Wikipedia article, there is absolutely nothing that would make me want to participate in such a scheme. -

Web designers need to know of this exchange between my parents:
Father: Ah - they've updated their web site!
Mother: Oh no.
Father: It looks good ...
Mother: Can you find the things we need?
... (long pause) ...
Father: No ...

Sent the last of my ISA stuff to Computer Recycling a year ago. @ChasLinux at CR likes old stuff for his computer museum, but I don't think any of my stuff was archival quality -

I've occasionally deleted the whole thing in !StatusNet. It took a few days to rebuild the avatar images for active subscriptions, and, of course, the media content is forever missing. I haven't not noticed that it creates database reference issues, but then the database for the !StatusNet instances seem to have other (self-inflicted) damage. Your mileage with !GNUsocial may vary from mine with !StatusNet. -

"It was late July and although the air conditioning at the Center was working heroically to fight off the heat, Walt Sinclair’s sweat-soaked shirt was sticking against his back..." @lnxw48a1, is that you? http://www.baen.com/eaglesflight -

The irony: I just received an e-mail message from a realtor with the subject "How to Protect Your Information Online", accessible only when I enable HTML, and it's one huge image file, and one webbug loaded with a ton of tracking in the query string. !surveillance
