    @phoe is notabug.io federated using ActivityPub though? There are heaps of non-AP Reddit-a-likes, including lobste.rs, Hacker News, #SteemIt, #Minds, and others:

    I wouldn't have minded if #minds had just gone out and said in their marketing that they were an #elgg derivative. In fact, that would have made me look at them earlier.

    They do mention it in the repo README, but I didn't even go there, because they seemed like an entirely pointless remade social site.

    But now they're talking about cryptocurrency and monetary rewards (maybe they always did, I didn't hear it), so now it seems more like a pointless remade #steemit?

    While #Steemit is an #OpenSource application, it does not appear to be federated, so although I could run my own server it won't connect with Steemit's main servers. Assigning payment to posts is only going result in posts for the sake of making money. And three of the four top posts right now seem to be exactly that, click-bait to get upvotes. I'd rather post when I have something to contribute, regardless of how I think it will be received. And finally, the site is #Javascrippled, but what isn't these days?

    @existentialbro @1iceloops123 I've never heard of #Steemit before. #Twister has been around for a few years, though. When I used Twister, there was not any kind of otherwise-useless gamification token, which is what I see in the Wikipedia entry for Steemit.
