My two cents: I appreciate the problem solving side of the issue - like presenting some alternatives to software that's being uncool rather than just yelling at them, or bottling up your fury. Alternatives are the first thing I look for when I hear something I don't like about software I use. Promoting the competition can be its own little revenge while keeping it nice and positive.
