    Watching the herd of dancing polar bears convinces me that:

    (1) Browsers should offer the ability to prevent animations as well as media (audio/video) from starting. That ability should be enabled by default.

    (2) Until all major browsers implement this, Pleroma should offer the ability to prevent animations as well as media (audio/video) from starting. That ability should be enabled by default.

      @lnxw37a2 In GNU social you can specify the filetypes accepted as displayed media, disabling video/gif/etc content is probably a sensible choice.
