"This Christmas, by all means remember the angels and the shepherds and the magi and the little boy-child Jesus in his manger. But also remember this mother and her child on the streets of Bethlehem. And remember that the coming of the Christ was to set in train a revolution of love and justice that would eventually sweep away all tyrants and free all victims and end all wars."

@elsander There's a hymn we sing at our church which, love the writer dearly but it's sadly nonsense.
Lyrics along the lines of "who would think that what might be needed to save the earth would not be an army but a baby"
Problem is that's not how it works; *every* conquering emperor and general starts out as a baby. And then later has all sorts of retroactive legends created about how their birth was special.
What was important about Jesus is his life, what he taught.
