   TIL that inter religious, inter caste and non-religious marriages have be done under the tedious Special Marriage act. Apparently one have to first notify relevant authorities of the matter, get it approved from authorities and parents, publish it publicly and only then get married. Till now I assumed that it was easy.

      This is abominable, but the parental consent seems to only be a side effect of the provisions of the Special Marriage Act, rather than a direct cause. That makes a small difference, even if it isn't much.
