It has a whole -helping- of flaws. Ones m'love could probs articulate better than I. She's the games reviewer after all.

Yet...bits of the combat are sometimes nifty. Exploration occasionally feels nice. I have been enjoying playing it with her.

There's just so much damn potential there, and occasionally it shines through. But...I really couldn't say yet if that's enough.

Though what I will say, is that....while I can see -how- people could enjoy it, playing it m'self, despite the flaws. It's hardly, and would never be, game of the fucking year.

Yknow in thinking about it. I think I'd be less critical of Original Sin 2, more willing to find the fun and not the flaws. If it hadn't been put out there as said to be perfect.

I find that a lot these days. If games reviewers jump on a bandwagon and praise a game to high heaven. It's never as good when I get round to it, and that sucks, cos it taints your viewpoint on it. I -adore- some games that have many flaws, and I'd never claim they were perfect.

That claim, that noting that something is -that- level of great, means it'll always be a disappointment, and that's...very sad, it harms the game in the end.

@katiekats I can remember back in 90s a magazine scored a NES game at 100% I always wanted to play it but I had the SNES. I just can't imagine any game being perfect. I can't remember the name of the game, but I'm pretty sure the mag was N-Force. Scoring a game that highly is always going to lead to disappointment.
