In the United States, the fleur-de-lys symbol unambiguously refers to New Orleans, LA and is used on everything related to the city from trash cans to the local American football team. I tried to come up with other symbols other than physical landmarks that are closely associated with a city but I couldn’t think of any of the top of my head. For example New York City is nicknamed “The Big Apple” but the symbol isn’t widely used across the city and apples don’t make people think about New York City either.

Would you happen to know any other city-symbol association, either in the US or anywhere else in the world?

There's the three little crosses that represent #Amsterdam. They're on all the bollards around the canals, on beer coasters, and I've seen it in many other places. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Amsterdam
