2017, is 2 things. The rise of sjw, and the rise of artificial intelligence. The sjw is quite series, perhaps marks the downfall of white nations. AI is marked and represented by google AlphaZero. I think future is uncertain.
by the way, there's this notion in the corner, often championed by @sapinker , that statically, the world is better. less crime, more democracy, etc. However, that has nothing to do with what might happen in near/far future. Think of dynamical systems and chaos theory.

although the AI is mainly controlled by sjw inclined left, but it's not certain it'll continued in bad direction. Public is becoming more aware Free Speech issue. Also, note there's China, Middle East, who, will never think in any sjw way.

it's quite something to think about what would happen in coming years. 2 fronts, the AI etc tech, and political stability, specifically the current most powerful nation the USA. Again, i think it's hard to say the slightest whether some disaster might happen, all things considered.

on the sjw problem, it's possible they might fall n disintegrate given their tenets. But they might also instigated a civil war before so. Or, white nations fall into a dystopian disintegrated groups of factions. Or worst scenario of 1984 ruled by powerful sjw.

the AI etc tech (quantum computing, genetics, nanotech, robotics etc), is familiar worry, but is also heavily tied to sjw/politics, which makes it worse. Google, facebook, is already systematically using AI to shape people's thoughts. But,
There's also China and its tech, playing entirely a different game. And bitcoin's impact to human society can be major, e.g. disintegrate economic system or political structure.
