brennen@cypnk @uranther yeah - i spent years of my life slowly modernizing a pretty crazy old-school php situation, and currently do ops stuff for a codebase with a big slab of 2006-style php in it.
i think you can write pretty mellow php these days (and for all the stupid quirks it's nowhere near as much worse than python/ruby/whatever as they'd have you believe) but the further back you go the more horrors lurk.
