Just received a direct message on twitter by a nut job
who was saying because I retweeted something he didn't agree with then he would have to unfollow me. Typical of this modern age, people shout free speech, but then want to silence those that disagree with them.
-
@kevie I think it is possible to change the settings so that you can only receive direct messages from accounts that you're following. This can reduce the nut job quotient. #battlehardenedtwitter

@bob You mean that isn't set by default? That should be the default to prevent people from getting DMs from accounts named @xxx_stephanie_pics_in_profile_xxx.
-
@lnxw48a1 In a sane world the defaults of Twitter or Facebook would be in the best interests of users. But users are not their customers.

Just respond:
"Well that just like your opinion man."
-
@mangeurdenuage I'm not even going to dignify his message with a response (I don't believe he's on Gnusocial so I was happy to mention it here). Thanks for the tip though 😉👍

@kevie Sounds like your correspondent has an exaggerated sense of self importance. Most people understand that subscribing ("following") is mostly about the interests of the subscriber. If that person's interests start to conflict with those of the person they subbed to, they will unsubscribe ("unfollow"). Totally natural, and not at all undesirable. But to DM you to tell you that you did something they didn't like is just strange.

@lnxw48a1 like you said: probably full of his own self importance
