It kind of bothers me, tbh, that people will say someone was killed by cancer or pneumonia or "died of old age" but suicide is never "killed by depression" or other mental illnesses

I mean suicide is awful and wrong but in the huge majority of cases it's directly the fault of the illness and the words we use leave this big opening for victim blaming which is really awful and part of why people don't get the help they need
