    a usb drive image designed for 128gb+ drives that, when a computer is booted from the image, checks the disk usage of the hardware.

    if it sees data, it creates a virtualbox image of the machine matching the hardware on the USB drive.

    if it sees no data, it installs a minimal linux desktop system for that architecture that boots into the virtualbox machine previously created.

    (substitute virtualbox for the virtualization solution of your choice)

    easy migration kit off failing old hardware for non-technical folk or fools errand?
