    And this is bound to be good for the fediverse and independent internet systems. In the longer term governments may also try to block independent systems, but unless they can change the fundamentals of the internet I think it will be hard for them to entirely succeed in that.

      Decentralisation will be given more motivation, but until we decouple numbering and naming schemes from centralised control, this will have limited effect. Ultimately IPv* will need replacement with something topology-independent.
